# Will my insurance help pay?

When speaking with the plan, have the precise medicine name and why it is being considered beside you. Ask for an answer about your own coverage.

## Ask about your plan's route

### Check the plan's medicine list

A plan's formulary names the medicines that plan will pay for. With prior authorization, the plan must agree to cover the cost before the pharmacy provides the drug.

Ask if your plan covers this specific product for the proposed use. Check whether it needs approval first and how much of the bill you would pay.

### Separate Medicare's usual benefit from the Bridge

Medicare Part D helps pay for prescription medicines. It generally excludes medicines used for weight loss. It can cover other accepted uses of these medicines. Rules checked September 26, 2026.

The body uses a signal called GLP-1 to help manage hunger and blood sugar. Some medicines copy it.

The temporary Medicare GLP-1 Bridge gives eligible members access to certain weight medicines for $50 per month, under terms checked September 26, 2026.

The terms recorded September 26, 2026 give July 1, 2026 as the opening date and December 31, 2027 as the closing date.

### Check eligibility before relying on that price

Whether you qualify for the Bridge depends on your age, health, plan type and past treatment. Before you receive the medicine, both a prescription and approval must be in place. Rules checked September 26, 2026.

Before a plan begins paying for some medicines, you pay an amount called the deductible.

You can use the Bridge without first paying your deductible under Part D. The $50 Bridge payment does not reduce any Part D deductible you still owe for other medicines. The payment also stays outside the annual Part D limit for spending from your own pocket. Even after you reach that limit, the Bridge's $50 monthly payment still applies. Terms checked September 26, 2026.

Members who usually get Medicare help because of low income still pay $50 a month through the Bridge. That low-income help does not lower the Bridge payment. Terms checked September 26, 2026.

Ask the person ordering the medicine and your plan which route fits your case. Ask your plan separately about the payments for your other medicines.

### Check what a savings card can do

Maker savings cards can lower your share of an insured medicine bill.

For these branded medicines, the cards require workplace or private insurance and exclude government plans, as of September 26, 2026.

A savings card and a cash offer have different rules. Government-plan members, including some people on Medicare, may be able to use a maker's cash price by paying outside insurance. Check the exact offer's terms. Terms recorded September 26, 2026.

## If the answer is “covered”

Ask for the conditions and your expected payment. Keep the reply with the product name.

A medicine being eligible for Part D coverage does not guarantee a particular plan pays for it, as of September 26, 2026.

Take the detailed conditions to the health professional who orders your medicine. Ask them to help check whether you qualify before planning around the advertised payment.
