Follow the medicine back to its source
Ask for the name behind the label
FDA, the Food and Drug Administration, says people arranging compounded drugs online may not know who made them.
Compounded means made to order. Ask who prepares it, who sends it and who can explain the label.
Check the Idaho pharmacy board
As of September 30, 2026, a pharmacy outside Idaho must register with Idaho's Board of Pharmacy before sending prescription medicine into the state.
Its home state must also have a current licence or registration for it and allow it to operate. Requirement checked September 30, 2026.
Ask the home-state board to explain any limits or action shown on the record.
Use the board page below to reach the state's licence search.
Ask for the pharmacist conversation
Idaho requires a pharmacy to review new prescriptions and provide counselling about new medicines as of September 30, 2026.
Counselling means a conversation about the medicine. Ask who will answer questions about its label and storage.
Do not treat a badge as the answer
FDA registration puts a business in the agency's records. A drug listing puts a product in those records. Neither means FDA has approved the product or decided it can be sold lawfully. Rule checked September 26, 2026.
Ask for the actual licence record and the actual product details.
If medicine is handed over at a clinic
Idaho generally requires a pharmacy-board licence when a clinic hands out medicine to take home, as of September 30, 2026.
The clinic does not need that licence for medicine given only during a visit, as of September 30, 2026.
Ask which arrangement applies. Keep that answer beside the product name.
